Back to Africa

French Equatorial Africa, consisting of four French colonies (Middle Congo, Ubangi-Shari, Chad and Gabon), was formed in 1910. The four dependencies became territories within the French Union in 1946, autonomous republics in 1958, and full independence in 1960. Middle Congo renamed Congo Republic and Ubangi-Shari renamed Central African Republic.
