Reunion, located in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar, was a French colony known as the Isle of Bourbon in 1662. Renames Reunion in 1793. Became an overseas department of France in 1946, and voted to continue the status within the French Union in 1958. Reunion now uses Euro.
