Shin Saim-Dang

This is the first-ever 50,000-won note, now the highest denomination in the country. This is also the first Korean note to feature a woman.

Front: Shin Saim-dang (1504-1551), painter, author and mother of the great philosopher Yul-gok (also known as Yi I)

Back: (vertical): Bamboo tree and Japanese apricot tree
