Collectors call it the "Martha" note because it pictures Martha Washington, the only real-life woman whose portrait has appeared on a U.S. currency note. The first Martha notes were issued in 1886. This 1891 issue has a different reverse design. There are currently only 1,291 notes known to exist with this one being among the higher graded ones.
